The
Friends of Ensemble XXI are music lovers from all over the
world. Some of the Friends heard us for first time while
they were living in Moscow, but still support us after they have
left. There are also Friends who have heard us in concerts
abroad or who have our recordings or visited our site.
The Friends
were founded soon after Ensemble XXI began. During Ensemble
XXI's first tour to Ireland, Lygia O'Riordan received a
letter from Mr William Walsh, suggesting that we should
found the Friends of Ensemble XXI. Moreover, he included a
generous cheque in the envelope.
The Friends
are now spread over four continents and include people from all
walks of life.
The role of the Friends
of Ensemble XXI is a very important one in allowing the
orchestra to maintain its artistic freedom. The orchestra does not
receive any state or city funding either in Russia or abroad and
as such is completely independent. The Friends
allow Ensemble XXI to receive support from sponsorship sources,
which are in line with the orchestra’s ideals and philosophy. In
other words, we have the time and possibility to carefully
choose our sponsors. Friends'
membership is not a subscription but rather it is support for
Ensemble XXI's work. However, we will send you a regular newsletter.
There is no fixed membership fee. You can give any amount you like
and please remember that no matter how small your donation, every
donation is a huge help. After your initial donation, your
membership of the Friends of Ensemble XXI will be effective
for 1 year.
After you have made your
donation, please e-mail us at dima(at)ensemblexxi.org with your
contact details so that we can acknowledge your donation and
include you on our mailing list as a Friend of Ensemble XXI. Thank
you very much for your support!
