Cleopatra’s Aria (‘Julius Ceasar’)

Handel’s opera ‘Julius Caesar’ was given its premiere in London in 1724. It was one of a set of Italian Operas that he wrote in London. This aria of Cleopatra is a virtuosic display of vocal technique with spectacular ornamentation (written by Richard Bonynge).
